Winchester Furniture is enjoying suite success after creating 50 jobs and a ten-fold increase in turnover. Exports around the globe and a new showroom are giving the Padiham leather furniture maker a lot to celebrate in 1993.

The most popular product manufactured by the firm, both for home and overseas markets, is the traditional hand-crafted Chesterfield suite.

This deep-buttoned luxury furniture is sought after across the globe.

Winchester also exporting to Korea, Norway, Sweden, Israel, Hungary and all the European markets.

The Moscow business - which Mr Blamire refused to name- has ordered six of Winchester's Osbourne suites, ahigh backed traditional Chesterfield design. "it's a start," said Mr Blamire, and we will be looking for even more orders from the former Eastern Bloc in the future.

A bold approach to overseas trade has paid dividends for Winchester Furniture 40% of production will go abroad.
Looking to the future, Winchester Furniture has its sights set firmly on expansion, in particular to the export market. The company has invested heavily in new premises and has recently opened another factory to handle its expansion.

East is meeting West, thanks to the initiative of a Padiham furniture company. Leather specialists Winchester Furniture Ltd have landed their fist order for six suites in the Russian capital Moscow
